Extending to some 4,500 acres running southeast from Gelston village to the coast, Gelston Castle Estate is a traditional mixed estate combining farmland, forestry, non-commercial woodlands (including ancient natural or semi-natural woodland), and areas of non-productive wilderness. Self-catering holidays have also been provided at the castle courtyard since 1973.
