       Misty mornings opening to tall skies.
             Slow, leaf-rustling walks.
       The morning crunch of the first frosts.
    Bicycles, the air bracingly fresh on the face.
       Rosehips studding hedgerows like rubies.
 Slanted sun gilding fallen lime-leaves. Sharp shadows.
Twilight crowding in at tea-time, tinged with melancholy.
  The lingering scent of woodsmoke, the glow of embers.
             Long, hot, soaking baths.
            Extra blankets at bedtime.
                Gelston in autumn.
